The name Texan was applied to Army AT-6's and up, and Navy and Marine SNJ-3's on up, and is used more as a generic name covering all models. But, the story of the Texan - call it what you will - is not all that easy to tell. It is in fact quite involved. Contents: Foreword, Section 1, Description; Section 2. The Texan is the third book I've read by Joan Johnston and I am already looking forward to more books. With this series she brought a modern, rugged and vast Texas to life. The setting, the characters, the story came together wonderfully/5. Texas is a novel by American writer James A. Michener, based on the history of the Lone Star State. Characters include real and fictional characters spanning hundreds of years, such as explorers, Spanish colonists, American immigrants, German Texan settlers, ranchers, oil men, aristocrats, Chicanos, and others, all based on extensive historical research. At 1, pages, it Author: James Michener (). The latest offering in the Rancher's Heirs series, Taming the Texan is the story of Hayes Elliott and single mom Alexa Rodriguez. Hayes has just left the Army suffering from PTSD and has come home to his family's ranch to heal. A chance meeting with Alexa at the stables leads to a weekend destined to change both their lives/5.   As a lover of historical fiction, I knew I would love this book. And, I was not disappointed. I loved how Michener set up this story--a task force has been selected to research the curriculum that will be taught to schoolchildren regarding Texas history, and the history is told through the stories of their families (not the heroes--despite them being mentioned as well)/5.
